1st Draft Beer FREE at the OpenBeer VIII at Deutsche Ecke on the 2nd of June!
Dear Beer Loving friends,
As you all know the Athens OpenBeer VIII event is going to take place at Deutsche Ecke in Zografou. Deutsche Ecke won the honor of hosting the OpenBeer VIII event through the Poll that was active on the OpenBeer website last week! It was a last minute win that was determined by the Deutsche Ecke fans seconds before the poll closed. You can read more about that in our post titled “The Battle of the Pubs for OpebBeer VIII“.

Athens OpenBeer VIII Event at Deutsche Ecke on the 2nd of June
Dear beer loving friends!
This time round the voting was very intense! Even at the last minute the lead switched hands! It was a very close call and a battle to the “death” between the 2 favorite selections, FIRST CZECH PUB ATHENS and DEUTSCHE ECKE! At the end, at 00:00 last night the poll closed and the winner was DEUTSCHE ECKE!
So, it is official, the Athens OpenBeer VIII Event, based on your votes, is going to take place at the DEUTSCHE ECKE on the 2nd of June 2010!
Deutsche Ecke is located at 126 Papagou Av. Zografou close to the 8th Zografou bus station for bus 230 and 608 (Λεωφ. Παπάγου 126, Ζωγράφου, πλησίον στάσης λεωφορείου 230 και 608). The good thing is that because of the many students living in the area the buses come by very often.
We will start gathering from 20:00-20:30 and onwards. If you want to RSVP on FaceBook click here.
Keep in mind that the FREE Beer offers as linked to the place that the event is held. This means that since Deutsche Ecke hasn’t made any offers, there is NO FREE BEER this time. There is FREE beer! Read THIS post!

Guess what!? It is time to organize the next OpenBeer event! Yes, yes, yes! Beer time is here! I feel that the heat of the summer is too much. So the best thing to get over it is by drinking cold beers! Why not make suggestions near the sea this time? (more…)

Athens OpenBeer VII
Dear Beer loving friends,
On Wednesday the 12th of May the OpenBeer VII event took place at James Joyce Pub in Monastiraki for a second, unexpected time! Why unexpected? Well, the original plan was to have our pints at Ploughman’s Pub, but they didn’t open up on time! Yes, you read that right, they didn’t open up on time!
One day before OpenBeer VII, we called the Ploughman’s Pub and confirmed our arrival clearly stating the time we would be there and also providing a link to the page that described the event. How much clearer could we be than that! The next day we found out that we were talking to a brick wall! As more and more OpenBeer fans arrived, we decided at 21:00 to go to the second best choice from the Poll, which was James Joyce Pub! We went and had a blast!
The service at the place was great, thanks for that Louise! The beers were exceptional and the sausages great! (more…)

Athens OpenBeer VΙI Event at Ploughman’s Pub on the 12th of May
Dear beer loving friends!
The voting period is over and the results are final! The Athens OpenBeer VII Event, based on your votes, is going to take place at the Ploughman’s Pub on the 12th of May 2010!
Ploughman’s is located at 7 Alikarnassou & 60 Lenorman just oposite the Metaxourgeio Metro station (Αλικαρνασσού 7 & Λένορμαν 60, πλησίον στάσης μετρό Μεταξουργείο).

Just before I wrote this post on Saturday I had just had a couple of pints of Murphy’s Irish Stout and felt inspired to start organizing the OpenBeer VII Event! Isn’t it just grand how Beer can motivate us when we least expect it!

Athens OpenBeer VI
Dear Beer loving friends,
On Thursday the 7th of April the OpenBeer VI event took place at the Diver bar/restaurant in Kallithea. This time around we had about 35 people that came and enjoyed many different types of beer. The service at the place was great, the beers exceptional, but unfortunately it was too much of a restaurant than a pub. There was no room for us to stand and talk in the bar, so we decided to take the party outside . Yes folks, we stayed outside and we had great fun! (more…)

Athens OpenBeer VI at Diver tomorrow!
Dear Beer loving friends,
I called Diver and made sure they were expecting all of us there tomorrow for beers! It would be a shame if the owners weren’t prepared for our visit!
As mentioned in my previous post, to visit Diver go to 65 Davaki st, Davaki square, Kallithea anytime after 20:00! Don’t be too late, or you there will not be any beer left for you! (more…)

For those of you that haven’t been there before, the Diver bar is located at 65 Davaki st, Davaki square, Kallithea (Δαβάκη 65, Εμπορικό Κέντρο, Πλατεία Δαβάκη, Καλλιθέα). It is close to the “Kallithea” and “Tavros” stations, so there is easy access for all. We will start gathering from 20:00-20:30 and onwards. If you want to RSVP on FaceBook click here.

Athens OpenBeer VI venue suggestions!
Dear Beer Loving Friends,
I was checking my calendar and the best time for the OpenBeer VI event seems like next week. Next week though is the week before Easter and on days like we should not be in a mood for festivities. Besides that, I am sure that some of us will be fasting, so no beer allowed and others might not even be in town.
