On Wednesday the 12th of May the OpenBeer VII event took place at James Joyce Pub in Monastiraki for a second, unexpected time! Why unexpected? Well, the original plan was to have our pints at Ploughman’s Pub, but they didn’t open up on time! Yes, you read that right, they didn’t open up on time!

One day before OpenBeer VII, we called the Ploughman’s Pub and confirmed our arrival clearly stating the time we would be there and also providing a link to the page that described the event. How much clearer could we be than that! The next day we found out that we were talking to a brick wall! As more and more OpenBeer fans arrived, we decided at 21:00 to go to the second best choice from the Poll, which was James Joyce Pub! We went and had a blast!

The service at the place was great, thanks for that Louise! The beers were exceptional and the sausages great!

Dear Beer Loving Friends,

The venue suggesting time is here and I have created a Poll with all your ideas! As with other suggestions not included in the past, so was München at Melissia not added to the list of selections because of its location. The closest public transport is 2.5 Km away, unless you take into count buses which are a nightmare. It is important that we are close to public transport (Metro or Train).

2. After the OpenBeer IV event, the James Joyce Pub, offered free finger food!

The Athens OpenBeer IV event on Thursday the 14th of January was a great hit. I couldn’t estimate how many of us where there, due to the fact that many came while others left. The crowd kept on recycling so if you did come and I haven’t included you in this article, please feel free to post it in the blog comments! I will add your name or username later.
For all you that didn’t come, the James Joyce Pub served excellent beer and had great music. All in all we had a great time and the managers of the place offered us FREE finger food if we decided to have another OpenBeer event at their pub! Thanks for that Tom and Mike!!!

As far as the video goes, well unfortunately the James Joyce Pub was a bit too dark and the video did’t come out very well. I figured it would come out dark when I was shooting and that is the reason why I didn’t take a big video this time.

I called the James Joyce Pub and talked to Tom who is in charge and he is expecting all of us there tomorrow for beers! So, just go to the Pub at 12 Astiggos st in Monastiraki after 19:30 and look for us! If you can’t see us there for any reason (you never know, you might be the 1st to be there!!!), just ask for Tom -he is the tall guy- and he will sort you out.

The voting period is over and the results are out! The Athens OpenBeer IV Event, based on your votes, is going to take place at the James Joyce Pub on the 14th of January 2010. The James Joyce Pub is at 12 Astiggos st in Monastiraki (‘Αστιγγος 12, Μοναστηράκι). It is very close to the “Monastiraki” and “Thiseio” Metro stations, so there is easy access.
